Doomsday Survivalists: Paranoia or Preparation?

With the Mayan calendar predicting that the end of the world is near, many doomsday survivalists have been preparing for the worst.  With more and more doomsday predictions being released on a daily basis, determining which predictions are possible and which are simply designed to cause panic in the population can be difficult.  There is a major difference between being prepared for doomsday and being paranoid.  If you let your survivalist preparation take over your life, you very well might be paranoid.  If you simply take time to prepare for an emergency regardless of whether or not the emergency happens, this is a different story.  Learn how to be a prepared doomsday survivalist without going overboard and becoming paranoid.

Why is the Idea of an Unrelenting Doomsday Becoming So Popular?

One of the main reasons why end-of-the-world scenarios are becoming a huge topic of discussion is because of ancient Mayan predictions stating that the world would end .  Because we are in the year of 2015, doomsday preppers feel the need to try and shelter themselves and protect their family from a force that could wipe out the entire population.  The problem is that no one truly knows if these predictions were invented, and even those who believe that the predictions are accurate have no clue what will cause the end of the world.

What Can You Do to Be Prepared without Being Paranoid?

Just because the scenario seems silly to some does not mean that a natural disaster will not happen.  This is why it is important to take time to prepare for a doomsday by stockpiling everything that you will need to have in your home to live comfortably when a hurricane hits or the power goes out.  It is important to remember that you are not a crazy or paranoid survivalist just because you are shopping for the essentials you will need to survive a storm or any other type of disaster.  You are simply a person who has chosen to be wise rather than procrastinating until it is too late.

Tips on Preparing for an Uncertain Future

You should be prepared for any type of disaster at any given moment.  One of the main reasons why disasters are so devastating is because they cannot be predicted.  Here are some of the many things that you should pack away into a survival kit to stay prepared:

*  RBC2 batteries to power your home and appliances when the power goes out.

*  Blankets

*  Fire starter kits

*  Canned food and dry foods that does not require refrigeration

Water

*  First Aid kits

*  Flashlights

You should take time to gather all important documents and keep them in a safe that is waterproof and fireproof.  If a disaster does happen, having your birth certificates, passports, and social security cards can help you rebuild.  Make sure that you and your family have a plan on where you will meet if you are separated when the disaster hits.  There is nothing more important than everyone knowing where to look for their family when the family is scattered and cell phone towers are not working.

Never let the thought of an impending doomsday hitting affect your life.  If you are nervous, worried, or depressed, you have reached the point of paranoia.  Discuss your concerns with the one you love and always keep a support system around you so that you can prepare without being fearful.

Hope for the best, but prepare for the worst.

This is a good motto to live by, despite how you think about things.

Individuals can still hope for the best (that things can and will eventually work out), but what

good is your prosperity going to do if you don’t have anything to eat or a safe place to hang out

for an extended period of time?

Why not prepare while you still can — when things are readily available and can still be

purchased at cheap prices? The coming hyper-inflation will make any such purchases beforehand

look very intelligent…

To prepare for the worst, you need a plan. Why are most people so against doing basic

preparations that could be the difference on how they survive — or whether they survive?

History shows time and again that those who prepare always fare better than those who did not.

Having a plan and being determined to act on that plan will always be the best way to handle any

contingencies, should they occur.

After disaster strikes, your mind is going to be racing around like a car on a race track. Preplanning and having a written set of measures to take will make someone’s life go much

smoother when the SHTF.
