According to a report issued  in German Economic News (Deutsche Wirtschafts Nachrichten, or DWN), the German government is preparing to go to war against Russia, and has in draft-form a Bundeswehr report declaring Russia to be an enemy nation. DWN says: “The Russian secret services have apparently thoroughly studied the paper. In advance of the paper’s publication, a harsh note of protest has been sent to Berlin: The head of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Russian State Duma, Alexei Puschkow, has posted the Twitter message: ‘The decision of the German government declaring Russia to be an enemy shows Merkel’s subservience to the Obama administration.’” [Read more…]

To My Non-Prepping Friends: Stay the Hell Away

To My Non-Prepping Friends: Stay the Hell Away

I don’t know how many times I’ve had friends who I’ve talked to about prepping who simply snicker and Non-Prepping say “It’s not a problem! I’ll just come to your house!” Well, guess what? You ain’t coming to my house. The problem with RTI (reach, teach and inspire) is that trying to get your neighbors to prepare creates the danger of them knowing that you have gear, food and other resources. You must understand that if the SHTF, everyone who knows that you’re a prepper are going to think that you are going to help them out.  In fact, if you want a fraction of a chance to live past the first few weeks after a collapse, you will have to focus exclusively on taking care of you, your loved ones, and (if you are seriously fortunate) your group. This reality is going to come as a real shock to those people who you’ve attempted to show the importance of preparing to and they will most likely not take “No! Now piss off!” for an answer.

When Surviving Is No Longer Enough

SurvivingWhen Surviving Is No Longer Enough

It seems that for many preppers survival is the end game. Everything they work for, all their gear, all Survivingtheir food, all their water, all their weapons, and all their training are for the specific goal of surviving the collapse. What many of us have not considered is the very real fact that for many, survival will not be enough. At the end of the day being isolated in small groups and living for nothing more than to survive the next day will not be enough after a relatively short time. It is the human condition to want to expand and to thrive. I would like all of you to consider what comes after survival and how we as a whole can play a part in the reconstruction of our civilization. [Read more…]

Our Unhealthy Love Affair With Electricity: A Few Hints and Tips for New Preppers

Our Unhealthy Love Affair With Electricity

Not everyone is an experienced prepper. Even though I’ve been on the preparedness trail for about three years I still consider myself a newcomer, most days I learn something new. This article is for those who like me, feel overwhelmed at times, those who don’t know where to start or how to proceed.

First: Let me say well done on making what will likely be the most important decision of your life.

Second: There are a lot of people in the preparedness community who are more than happy to help you on your way. They won’t think your questions are stupid even though you may feel stupid asking them, just let them know you’re new to the concept and you will have more help and support than you ever dreamed possible.

Third:  Understand that just by realizing that all is not well in the world and that our lives may change without warning you are a few miles ahead of the majority of the population. In a relatively short space of time, you will be many miles ahead of them and in a better position to take care of yourself and your family.

5 Videos Showing How Fracking Can Make Water Flammable

fracking-flammable-water-300x168Public awareness of the risks and dangers of hydraulic gas-fracturing, or Fracking, is growing daily, but not nearly as fast as the practice itself is. Across the world, fracking is creating a massive new energy boom and investors are pouring money into energy companies who are setting up frack wells faster than the public can even figure out what’s happening.

Fracking causes significant environmental damage, yet the industry, of course, touts it as safe, saying that the stated risks are either unproven or circumstantial. In some cases industry is even suing detractors and people directly impacted by fracking for slander. Because of the denial and obfuscation of truth surrounding the impacts of fracking, a sort of cognitive dissonance has emerged, with many people willing to dismiss all of the noted side effects as unrelated, on the grounds that no singular authoritative scientific body has publicly declared fracking to be dangerous, and that the oil and gas industry has not yet admitted fault.

The impacts of fracking, from earthquakes to environmental pollution to increases in cancer, are well documented on many websites and in many publications, by scholarly researchers, scientists andgovernment agencies, by anecdotal stories, documentary films, and home videos. If you want to believe that fracking is a safe and smart way of managing the earth and our resources then you really have to suspend disbelief in the face of an ever-growing body of evidence and complaints.

One of the most outrageous and unbelievable effects of fracking in some areas is the phenomenon of tap water becoming flammable, straight from the tap, due to methane and other gasses leaching into ground wells and water supplies. Watching a faucet set on fire and hearing the stories of the people involved is not something that can be too readily dismissed, and here are a 5 examples of this:

1. Steve Lipsky of Weatherford, Texas, is facing a defamation lawsuit from the oil and gas industry after he has publicly decried fracking as the source of the contamination of his water, which is now flammable. The city has told him this water is safe to drink. From RT.com:

2.Shelly Perdue lives less then a half a mile from Steven Lipsky in Weatherford Texas. The water from her well, like his, is also flammable, and her home has methane gas in the air when she runs her water. Footage from Julie Dermansky.

3. In Granville Township, Pennsylvania, home of Chesapeake Energy’s massive fracking operations, homeowners are able to light their tap water on fire and their homes routinely smell like methane.

4. From the documentary film, Gasland, Dimock, Pennsylvania residents demonstrate just how flammable their tap water has become since fracking emerged.

5. In Parker County, Texas, residents are seen setting aflame a vent hose set up by the water well company to vent the methane gas coming from a contaminated water well. This is a demonstration of just how much methane is now combined with water resources in this area.

All of these cases share the common thread of nearby fracking operations. If the water is flammable, one has to wonder how this affects human, animal and plant life in the area, as cancer and other chronic illnesses continue to rise in the US. For homeowners and residents suffering from the negative impacts of fracking, the Environmental Protection Agency has been of little help.

“The agency that derives its income and survival from oil and gas production is usually put in charge of also regulating the protection of ground water from oil and gas wells. And there’s an inherent conflict of interest in that” – Mario Salazar

How Prepared is America for Civil Unrest?

civil-unrestWith $17 trillion dollars in debt, $238 trillion of unfunded mandates to to programs such as social security, medicare, etc., can it be any more obvious that the United States is facing a major economic collapse?

Bottom line, the banks are going to collapse. This will cause nationwide rioting and eventually a food shortage. Yesterday we showed just how much our food production has decreased over the years. In the event of an economic collapse, whether it be planned or not, I believe food will be used as leverage against the American people.

Dave Hodges from The Common Sense show, published a nice article onSHTF Plan that discusses what may cause this civil unrest, and shared some video of actual events that once the economy collapses will show exactly how citizens will react to food and resource shortages:

Last year, the Adelphi University research center tells us that 53% of all Americans do not have a three day supply of nonperishable food and water in their homes. FEMA and DHS are not about serving the needs of the American people; These agencies are about preserving the status quo of the powers that be. But don’t try and tell that to 55% of the citizens of this country.

Most Likely Causes of a Societal Breakdown

As the TV show by the same name, there are literally a 1,000 ways to die. The following six events represent some of the most likely events which would mortally wound our society.

1. World War III

2. False flag attack as a result of a series of nuclear explosions

3. False flag attack as a result of a chemical and biological attack

4. EMP attack

5. Military coup resulting in civil war

6. Economic collapse

America’s Level of Preparedness

A brief summation of the Adelphi study reveals the following:

  • 44 percent don’t have first-aid kits
  • 48 percent lack emergency supplies
  • 53 percent do not have a minimum three-day supply of nonperishable food and water at home
  • 55 percent believe local authorities will come to their rescue if disaster strikes

This means that 56% of those with first-aid kits, 52% of those with emergency supplies, and 47% of those who have more than three days worth of water, will be victimized by those who have not properly planned. Please allow me to put this into a real number for you. Over 130 million teenagers and adults will be in the streets seeking to obtain life-sustaining resources in a very short time following the disaster event. This is a train wreck starting to happen.

Time Frame for Societal Breakdown

Those that would be fortunate enough to survive the initial event, or series of events, would face the following timetable of events.

In the first one to two days, all shelves would be emptied of food, water, guns and medical supplies. There will be no resupply as nothing will be shipped.

On the beginning of the third day, individuals will be in the streets scavenging for anything they can find that will keep themselves and their families alive. If there is a loss of power, many will die as a result of exposure to the elements.

By the fifth day, desperate people will organize into collectives (i.e. gangs) and will go house to house looking for stored supplies from the half that has somewhat prepared. Neighborhoods will begin to organize themselves into local vigilante groups for protection from local gangs who have become desperate. This is the day that many of the police walked off the job in New Orleans in order to protect their families. Groups of police could become the most dangerous groups in society.

In the days that follow, nobody can be trusted. There will be people who will dress up in official looking uniforms (e.g. military, national guard, police) in order to gain entry into a fortified home.

The game changing event will be a civil war. Not only will you have to deal with marauding hordes of resource deficient people, you could also be caught in the crossfire between two, or more warring armies.

Casualty Rates

1. World War III. The casualty estimates dating back to the 1960′s and 1970′s related to an all-out nuclear war was placed at 150 million Americans or at 80-85%.

2. False flag attack as a result of a series of nuclear explosions. The casualty rate is indeterminable and would depend of the number of cities involved and their relative populations and the size and placement of the nuclear device. Generally speaking, one nuclear device in a city the size of Phoenix would kill 20,000 to 100,000 people. Many more would die in the upcoming weeks due to the effects of radiation.

3. False flag attack as a result of a chemical and biological attack. The casualty rates are indeterminable.

4. EMP attack. The Naval War College tells us that within two years of a power grid take down, that 90% of us would be dead.p4h_039_200x200

5. Military coup resulting in civil war. The casualty rates of war as well as civilians victimizing each other would be impossible to calculate. Conservative estimates would place the rate at 5% to 25%.

6. Economic collapse. It is impossible to exactly determine. I think a safe bet would place this event in the category of an EMP attack in which the effects would only be felt for a month. The government would be able to establish order following a brutal crackdown. However, in our weakened state, we would be inviting an invasion. A civil war could break out as well.

What Will the Riots Look Like?

NORTHCOM, DHS, FEMA and the Russians have all practiced on quelling domestic disturbances and conducting gun confiscation. Even the elite have gathered their own private armies in preparation for the same civil unrest.

Unfortunately, DHS is not releasing any videos which demonstrate the severity of the civilian uprising that they are practicing for. However, we do have some Black Friday drills which exemplify how crazy it will get in the first few hours of a societal breakdown.

If you are or someone you know is among the 55% of Americans and believe the government is going to rescue now would be the best time to open your eyes and realize they will not be there. The government isn’t coming. Start stocking up on food and water if nothing else. Start reading and preparing to grow your own food and collecting your own water.

If you have people close to you that haven’t woken up to the fact that civil unrest is coming to America. Please share this article on Facebook or Twitter and let everyone know that now is the time to prepare.

How to Make Your Own Cheese

MakingCheese-300x199There are several different types of cheese that you can make yourself. These include Ricotta, Cottage cheese, Mascarpone, Mozzarella and Yogurt cheese, to name a few. Making your own cheese can be tricky, and takes some time to fully learn, but once you have mastered it, you will (almost) never have to purchase cheese from your grocery store again, which makes you that much more self sufficient. In fact, if you have your own goats or even cows, this gives you another use for their milk. If not, the milk or heavy cream, depending on your recipe, from a grocery store will work, as long as it is not ultra-pasteurized.

Cottage cheese is one of the easiest to make, so cheese-making beginners should start off with it. All that you need is full cream milk (again, one that has not been ultra-pasteurized), citric acid in the form of lemon or lime juice, warm water, a muslin cloth, a glass cup, a cooking pan and a spoon to stir the mixture with.

Start off by combining one half of a teaspoon of the citric acid of your choice with one half of a cup of water in a glass. Stir well until the citric acid has been fully dissolved, then set it aside for now. Pour 33 ounces of milk into the pan and place it on the stove. Turn the burner on high, and wait for the milk to boil.

Once it does, pour the citric acid and water combination into the milk, and then stir. Turn the heat down, and keep stirring until the milk is fully curdled (i.e. begins to solidify and separate into two distinct parts – liquid and solid.) Turn the burner off and remove the pan from it. Place the muslin cloth over the top of the pan and drain it. The chunky bits of cheese will be caught by the cloth, while the liquid (also called the “whey”) will run out of the pan.

After the whey has been poured out, pour water over the cheese (still attached to the muslin) for several minutes to rinse it. Squeeze the cheese gently to make sure that all of the liquids have been removed. Slice your new cottage cheese into pieces, or use it however you want.

Once you have mastered cottage cheese, then it is time to attempt several types of cheese that are slightly more complicated. Ricotta and Mozzarella all require a few more kitchen tools and additional steps to make, while the process for making Mascarpone is almost as simple as that for cottage cheese.

The main difference lies in not only the equipment, for example, in order to make Ricotta cheese, you also need a colander, a thermometer and several other things, but also the type of milk or cream that is used. Mascarpone requires heavy cream, while Mozzarella can be made out of standard milk (again, as long as it is not ultra-pasteurized.)

With a little practice, as well as the right ingredients, you will have mastered these cheeses and others, making yourself that much more self-sufficient.

Here’s just a glimpse of what you’ll find in The Lost Ways:

From Ruff Simons, an old west history expert and former deputy, you’ll learn the techniques and methods used by the wise sheriffs from the frontiers to defend an entire village despite being outnumbered and outgunned by gangs of robbers and bandits, and how you can use their wisdom to defend your home against looters when you’ll be surrounded.

Native American ERIK BAINBRIDGE – who took part in the reconstruction of the native village of Kule Loklo in California, will show you how Native Americans build the subterranean roundhouse, an underground house that today will serve you as a storm shelter, a perfectly camouflaged hideout, or a bunker. It can easily shelter three to four families, so how will you feel if, when all hell breaks loose, you’ll be able to call all your loved ones and offer them guidance and shelter? Besides that, the subterranean roundhouse makes an awesome root cellar where you can keep all your food and water reserves year-round.

From Shannon Azares you’ll learn how sailors from the XVII century preserved water in their ships for months on end, even years and how you can use this method to preserve clean water for your family cost-free.

Mike Searson – who is a Firearm and Old West history expert – will show you what to do when there is no more ammo to be had, how people who wandered the West managed to hunt eight deer with six bullets, and why their supply of ammo never ran out. Remember the panic buying in the first half of 2013? That was nothing compared to what’s going to precede the collapse.

From Susan Morrow, an ex-science teacher and chemist, you’ll master “The Art of Poultice.” She says, “If you really explore the ingredients from which our forefathers made poultices, you’ll be totally surprised by the similarities with modern medicines.” Well…how would you feel in a crisis to be the only one from the group knowledgeable about this lost skill? When there are no more antibiotics, people will turn to you to save their ill children’s lives.

If you liked our video tutorial on how to make Pemmican, then you’ll love this: I will show you how to make another superfood that our troops were using in the Independence war, and even George Washington ate on several occasions. This food never goes bad. And I’m not talking about honey or vinegar. I’m talking about real food! The awesome part is that you can make this food in just 10 minutes and I’m pretty sure that you already have the ingredients in your house right now.

Really, this is all just a peek.
